Born and raised on the south side of Chicago has given me a heart for the city
I long for the days when communities were connected, committed, and collaborated to solve problems.
As our city has drifted away from this approach, these principles, and the plan of God, we have seen the disastrous effects it has had in Chicago.
- 2,289 murders from 2007–2011
- 506 murders in 2012
- 415 murders in 2013
Those impacted most by these unsettling statistics have been African Americans – particularly men.
- 86% of the victims were Men
- 76% of the victims were Black
- 76% of the known offenders were Black
We dream of a different Chicago!
